Sew Compensation/Kerf RDWORKS

Trying to understand Kerf in RD works v8.01.47
When setting the cut parameters for a layer -- I click on advanced and it lets me enter a sew width but it doesn't allow me to enter inside or outside as it states in the manual attaching a screen shot from my system and a screen shot from the manual
Don't I need to be able to say if a cut is inside or outside to be able to have it apply kerf compensation correctly?
Thanks for any help -- just trying to understand this as I am assuming I am just making a simple mistake somewhere
