Re: INTRODUCE YOURSELF
Hello. My name is Sarah and I'm new to the forum. I work for an On Demand jewelry company and have a few different types of laser engravers that we work with. Hoping to look for some good connections and potential help with some trouble shooting.

Re: INTRODUCE YOURSELF
Hi, Everyone.
I'm Doug. A 61 year old Retired/Disabled Cabinet and Furniture maker. I'm looking to get back into it on a very small scale. This time around I want to ad Laser Engraving to my work and find a market to sell a few items to supplement my SSDI income. I'm looking for ideas, instruction, any help any of you want to offer. I'm looking at getting a K40 engraver. Mainly because it the only one I can find that I can afford and from the reviews seems to do a good job after a few mods. And it's big enough for the small jobs I'm wanting to build. Any thoughts/ideas are more than welcome and I hope to hear from some of you.

Re: INTRODUCE YOURSELF
Hi All.. i'm Phil from Nottinghamshire in the UK. ii'm a bit of a 'maker' and engineer too. For a while i've been using my CNC Router to make wooden signs etc, but i've now got into leathercraft.
I was considering buying a cheap is new 40w chinese laser engraver, but wondered if anyone has any experience in marking / cutting on leather? i wanted to use the machine to cut oout shapes in 3-4mm thick veg tanned leather, and also to engrave outlines of designs before cutting / stamping etc.
any advice welcome.. is there anyone out there that is within an hours drive of Mansfield that has such a machine up and running that i could bring some samples to to see if it would be suitable?
regards
Phil

Hello Folks,
I have been following DIY CNC sites on the internet from the days of Mach2 and PastaFab. I am on my fourth 3d printer and was building a Diode laser CNC when my SO gave me a Ten-High 40W laser. So far I have had success with Acrylic, plywood, Foam core, Paper, Leather, Stone and Felt.
So I will see you folks in the forums, So Bye for now.
